Projects that connect children with educational equipment and scholarships,
connect communities with something to give with villages eager to grow
and connect all of us with the best parts of ourselves.

There's a gap in the developed world. A gap that can't be filled with stuff or achievement,
with shopping, eating, gossip or going faster and faster. That gap can be filled by giving.
It sounds corny but it's the truth. Nothing turns a bad day around faster than stepping outside yourself
to breathe life into someone or something starving for someone to come along and make a difference.
It's an incredible feeling to see how just a little can go so far.

In late November 2006, I went to volunteer in Thailand and came across a school library
that was suffocatingly hot, and this was in the beginning of winter. The school's director hoped
to one day be able to afford fans to make the heat bearable for the children and their teachers.
I asked how much the fans would cost. tha answer? About $175 for eight fans
to cool the entire library, but it would take the school a couple of years to
come up with that much money. I was stunned, and needless to say i hitched a ride to the bank.
To put it in a 21st century cliche, that's one less latte a week, or a couple of shirts
and a pair of jeans (or depending on your taste, a half a pair). It was so little.

I started asking more questions about the lives of the delightful children around me.
I learned that some hunt for rats or lizards after school for their evening meal,
that for many the lunch they get at school is the only real meal they get all day.
I learned that many of the children were being raised by their grandparents because
their parents had gone to Bangkok to work and send money home for their care.
I learned that after they finish school most if those delightful children will end up
in Bangkok working in factories or far worse.
These children are amazing.
Their attitudes and hearts are nothing you can teach,
their willingness to work and learn would be the envy of the leapfrog culture,
and they're just flat out fun to be with.

So here we are
I 'm asking for money, for time, for whatever you can give.
Not everyone has the time to go to Thailand and volunteer.
(Btw, for those of you who do want to do that, email us, we'll help you get going)
Not everyone wants to know all the facts and immerse themselves in an inquiry.
That's the beauty of today's world.
You don't have to.
Do whatever works for you.
Just do something.
If everyone does just a little bit to change things. we can actually change things.
We can do an end run around debates, around bureaucracy, around governments and separation.
We can fix the world. a little bit at a time.
We need your help.
Yes, that means money. a big donation all at once, great! a little donation each month, woo-hoo!
Instead of a night out with friends at a restaurant, once in a while have a potluck
and send in a donation as a group with the money you saved.

Don't give another knick-knack you aren't even sure they'll like,
give an honor gift in that friend or relative's name to change a child's world
by giving that child an education (check out the emails from our scholarship kids in 'Projects').

Just give, cause we need ya. They need you. They need us, and we need them, whether or
not we know it yet. We are reaching out to our first community in Bankruat, Thailand (see map).
We have three children on scholarship, two in college and one in high school.
You'll find their stories and letters from them on the 'Projects' page.
Thank you for reading, thank you for giving, for taking five minutes to step out and make a difference.

Thank you.
